Tajah Burton

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Wichita, Kansas when I was in the third grade. I lived most of my life in Wichita, KS, known to most people as the Air Capitol of the World. Wichita is located almost in the center of the United States. After graduating from high school, I joined the U.S. Army. I spent 22 years in the U.S. Army, traveling to 36 countries and I have been stationed in 10 different states in the United States. I retired in 1996 after completing 22 years of Honorable Service. I returned to Wichita, KS and attended Friends University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. I began my Masters in Teaching with an emphasis in English as a Second Languange, but moved to Bradenton before it was completed. Since moving to Bradenton, I taught at Rowlett Elementary, teaching Dual Language classes for grades 4 and 5, then changed to teaching 3rd grade and looping to 2nd grade. I have taught at Anna Maria Elementary for the past 8 years teaching 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades. I am glad to have the opportunity to teach 2nd grade. I am currently married to a wonderful man, Darryl Jackson, who is retired from ConEdison of New York City. Our son, Gregory, is attending Kindergarten this year in Mrs. Moran's classroom. During our time off we enjoy traveling to some of the best entertaining spots in Florida or returning to Kansas to visit with family and friends.
